TOUGE WEEKLY #6

"Relics of the Past"

Hey guys welcome to our newest issue of Touge Weekly! In this weeks issue we ask Marshall about his past experience with US-129. What has led him here, cars of the past, and plans for the future. The awesome part about the mountain is the story everyone creates with it. From humble starts, to accidents & mistakes. The Mountain pass carves its users story....

"The Start"

"My best friend Luke Hutsell and I both got our motorcycle license at the same exact time at 15. We never knew anything about the dragon until we just stumbled upon it one day just riding after school. Which turned into going up to the tail almost every other day in high school from 15 to 17. Luke sadly passed away in the summer of 2021, I absolutely miss him and he's the one person that keeps my motivation up, and keeps me driven to go up there."

"Vehicle of Choice"

"This mustang was honestly a dream car. Most kids at a young age dream of your typical Ferrari poster or raging bull Lamborghini as their dream car. For me I wanted something attainable. Something I read about in countless magazine articles as a kid in middle school. Turned 18 and I got the chance to get one."

"I've had multiple bikes and miatas before I had bought the mustang, and to be honest I had more fun in that mustang on the tail than I have ever had in any other car. The handling especially with sticky tires, Wilwood brakes, and mild bolt on suspension parts was just amazing. I love being being able to power through a corner with no issues what so ever and man with the suspension setup I had, I ran with some fast Shelby's and some mild corvettes at autocross. With everything I learned from autocross coming back to the mountain pass it was satisfying to see such a big car perform so well on the pass."

"I had a lot memories in the silver car. Memories from blowing a motor on the tail to building a installing a new motor just a few days before Touge Fest. Also making memories driving it, from meeting new people to impressing others at Auto X. Its always nice to see people who have a rough opinion about American muscle come over to learn about the car. I always enjoy talking about how modern muscle has came and being a JDM enthusiast I surprisingly feel at home inside the mustang. You can tell it offers a lot that many people oversee."

"I currently own a 95 miata and a 2014 GTCS mustang. The miata is my daily and the GTCS is to clean for me to make into a race car. I do hope to pick up another mustang down the road to replace the one you see today. Maybe a GT350 or if a nice ND miata comes around I could definitely see these being my next track toy. Being a muscle car fan my absolute dream would be a 68 charger. If I did achieve this goal, you would for sure see me enjoying it. I hate and love seeing old cars. Good thing is they are being kept nice, but also the drivability disappears. So being able to bring one up and enjoy what is has to offer, and showcase these older cars still give off a performance desire any enthusiast can appreciate."

"Future of the Pass"

"The dragon has affected my life in many ways. From meeting new people to exploring new roads behind the dragon, and even expanding my business career. I've met people on the road I now consider family more than friends and always look forward to seeing what the pass holds next."

- Marshall Williams

Hope everyone enjoyed this issue of Touge Weekly! Sadly this car does not prowl the pass anymore as a drunk driver plowed into the side of it, but love sharing the story of old ghost cars. Cars leave a special place in our hearts, and carrying their legacy/story is crucial.

If you want your story featured on Touge Weekly send us what you have to say and some great shots.

Thank you guys again for reading, and as always keep hitting the pass.
